The Performance
This Halloween-inspired program offers Mussorgsky’s terrifying musical depiction of a witches’ Sabbath, Dvořák’s symphonic poem about a witch who steals a child from her mother, and Bartók’s haunting and scandalous Miraculous Mandarin. Violin soloist Jennifer Frautschi offers us a welcome reprieve with Bernstein’s Serenade, which the composer described as “a series of related statements in praise of love.”
