MYO Partners

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra is committed to reaching young people in our community through partnerships – we all exist in a community together and we believe that by working together we can build stronger families and a stronger community.

The partnership program is designed to work most seamlessly within the elementary school environment reaching children from Kindergarten to 2nd grade. We begin by teaching violin, viola, and cello. Later, there will be an opportunity to learn bass, if the child wishes to do so. Any additional students who wish to learn an instrument may do so through MYO’s on-site enrollment process that takes place each spring, but lessons will take place at other locations.

The lesson is only one component of the MYO program.  All MYO members must commit to both a weekly lesson and a weekly orchestra rehearsal that will take place on Saturday morning (elementary age), Tuesday evening (middle school age), or Thursday evening (high school age).  Additionally, all MYO members are expected to participate in two major performances at Hilbert Circle Theatre and other venues and an annual recital and adjudication (assessment).

Community Partner General Overview

We have discovered over the years the many needs our families face – whether it’s emotional support through challenges, meals during times of food insecurity, or how to provide discipline in a loving manner.

Through various community partnerships, we are proud to be offering programming with Second Helpings and Art of the Soul – with more to come!
