Musician Bio

Yeajin Kim joined the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in 2022 September. Prior to joining the ISO, she was pursuing Artist Diploma at Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of Simin Ganatra.

Born in Daegu, South Korea, Violinist Yeajin Kim began her musical studies at age 5. She has previously appeared at the Waltz & Dr. Mahn Young Artist Concert as a featured soloist and has performed in Seoul, Ansan, Goyang, and Namyangju. In 2021, she premiered “Double Concerto for violin, piano and 15 winds” with composer Andrew Mead. Her festival appearances include Tanglewood Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West, Orchestra of Americas, Round Top Summer Music Festival, and Toronto Summer Music Festival.

As an active chamber musician, she is a founder member of Eurus String Quartet, the Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Indiana University as students of the Pacifica Quartet in 19-20 season and made a European recital debut at the Beethoven-Haus Kammermusiksaal. She has also collaborated in chamber music performances with St. Lawrence String Quartet, Desmond Hoebig, and Joseph Johnson. 

She graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Music at the Seoul National University, where she studied with Hyuk-Joo Kwun. She holds master’s degree from Indiana University under the tutelage of Jorja Fleezanis. 

She enjoys watching movies, dramas and walking around new places. Recently, she starts to learn guitar through Youtube!
