Designed for elementary audiences, these performances integrate live music to highlight characters, moods, and key moments. Each program invites students to listen actively and experience how music can shape and enhance a story.
Learn about the different instruments of the orchestra! Our instrument petting zoo offers violin, plastic trumpet, plastic trombone, flute, kid-friendly wind instruments and various percussion instruments to try touching and playing!

What is the purpose of an instrument petting zoo?
Instrument petting zoos are a popular and interactive way to introduce students to musical instruments and their respective families.
Are our instruments sanitary?
Yes!! Don’t worry, we spray and wipe down the instruments after every turn!
We LOVED the petting zoo and want to learn an instrument. Where do I start?
If you’re interested in playing a string instrument, we would love to have you as part of our Metropolitan Youth Orchestra family! We serve students K-12. If you’re interested in other instrument families, check out your local community music centers!
Pricing
$125 – non-Title I schools and other programs (festivals, libraries, etc.)
$50 – Title I Schools
Coaching/Sectionals – $250 per musician
Invite ISO musicians to give a special masterclass to an an individual student or chamber ensemble or request a sectional for a specific instrument! You will be asked to provide information on the following:
- Students’ experience and current repertoire
- Goals you would like the musician to focus on with the students
Performances + Q&A
Invite ISO musicians to your classroom to perform and answer questions about their instrument and background!
- Solo – $250
- Duet – $625
- Trio – $750
- Quartet – $1,000
- Quintet – $1,250
Learn about the symphony and a day in the life of an arts administrator! An ISO staff member will visit your classroom and give insight on how things run behind the scenes of a symphony orchestra. This will be a 30-45 minute talk that includes a powerpoint.

An exclusive chance to meet the musicians after the performance and ask them burning questions up close and personal at the front of the Hilbert Circle Theatre stage.
Request must be made using this form at least 2 weeks before concert date, separate from ticket purchase. Please visit the Student Tickets page on our website to learn more about group student ticket pricing and reserve your group tickets.
Meet & Greets are not guaranteed on non-Classical concerts.
