Under Anthony Parnther, this program highlights voices of change and musical individuality across generations. ISO Principal Viola Yu Jin takes center stage in Chen Yi’s Xian shi, a vivid and expressive work that draws on both Western and Chinese musical traditions. The evening concludes with Beethoven’s uplifting Symphony No. 8, a work full of wit and energy, classical virtues viewed through Beethoven’s distinctive lens.
