Musician Bio

Sharif Ibrahim began with the ISO in September of 2022. He is a native of Indiana, and a graduate of Indiana University, holding both a Bachelors and Masters of Music Performance in Double Bass. While he was attending Carmel High School, he studied privately with ISO member Robert Goodlett at Quattro String Academy, and was a member of MYO under the direction of Betty Perry.

 

Between completing degrees, he was Acting Section Bass of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for two seasons from 2017-2019.  Before he began playing with the ISO, he appeared as a substitute with the Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra,  International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico, Bloomington Bach Cantata Society and spent 3 summers at The Aspen Music Festival (2016-2018). Sharif plays on an Italian double bass from 1897 made by Custode Marcucci.
