Gabriela Montero Performs Her "Latin" Concerto

The resilient spirit of South America is in the spotlight as Latin Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Gabriela Montero takes the stage, under the baton of Marin Alsop, the first woman to hold the position as Music Director a major American orchestra. Argentinian country life inspired the ballet Estancia by Alberto Ginastera, one of South America’s shining stars of the 20th century.

"Montero's playing has everything: crackling rhythmic brio, subtle shadings, steely power in climactic moments, soulful lyricism in the ruminative passages and, best of all, unsentimental expressivity." —New York Times

Marin Alsop is also the Music Director of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
