ISO and Indianapolis Ballet to present The Sleeping Beauty, March 6–7

Following the critically acclaimed productions of Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake, the Indianapolis Ballet and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra are proud to continue their artistic partnership with the presentation of the full-length classic The Sleeping Beauty, March 6–7, 2026, at Clowes Memorial Hall. This performance is made possible with generous support from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation and the Butler Arts & Events Center.

Under the baton of ISO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly, this enchanting ballet, featuring the glorious music of Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will once again unite the exceptional talents of two of Indianapolis’ premier performing arts institutions.

Composed in 1889 and first performed in 1890, The Sleeping Beauty is widely considered Tchaikovsky’s crowning achievement in ballet. This lavish production will blend classical choreography by Marius Petipa with original staging and artistic flourishes by Indianapolis Ballet Founding Artistic Director Victoria Lyras, bringing a fresh perspective to the fairy tale favorite.

“This marks our third year collaborating with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and each season deepens what has become an extraordinary partnership. Audiences who experienced the emotional power of Romeo and Juliet and the sweeping grandeur of Swan Lake know firsthand how transformative it is to see a full-length ballet accompanied by a live orchestra. With The Sleeping Beauty, often considered the pinnacle of classical ballet, Indianapolis Ballet and the ISO invite audiences on a truly enchanted journey. It’s not just a performance, it’s an event that transports everyone involved into a realm of magic, beauty, and timeless artistry.”

— Victoria Lyras, Founding Artistic Director, Indianapolis Ballet

“We are thrilled to reunite with Indianapolis Ballet for a third season to present one of the greatest masterpieces in the classical repertoire. The Sleeping Beauty represents the pinnacle of Tchaikovsky’s genius, and bringing it to life with a full orchestra amplifies the magic for audiences of all ages. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to artistic excellence and to enriching the cultural fabric of our city.”

— James Johnson, CEO, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
