Debussy's La Mer
Sunday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m.
Jun Märkl, Conductor
“Music,” wrote Claude Debussy, “must be as boundless as the wind. The sky. The sea.” La Mer is Debussy’s sensuous impression of the deep sea. Jennifer Johnston, named “a rising star” by BBC Music Magazine, joins distinguished conductor Jun Märkl for Sir Edward Elgar’s exquisite Sea Pictures.
Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances
Saturday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m.
Matthias Pintscher, Conductor
The music of Rachmaninoff has touched the heart for generations. Matthias Pintscher conducts the Russian master’s late, luxuriant Symphonic Dances, music that poignantly quotes nostalgic melodies from his early Vespers.
Sunday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m.
Krzysztof Urbański, Conductor
It is both sacred and profane. It speaks of romantic love and carnal desire. The ISO, Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, under the direction of Krzysztof Urbański, perform Carl Orff’s ecstatic Carmina Burana. If you have never experienced it live in concert, prepare for a stunning experience.
