Stella Artois Happy Hour at the Symphony

Showing

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce composer and conductor Steve Hackman as the new creative director of the Stella Artois Happy Hour at the Symphony Series! Hackman has been bringing his incredible symphonic fusions to the Hilbert Circle Theatre stage for years, and we are excited to benefit from his talents and vision. The series opens in September with Firebird: Remix | Response, an original fusion of Stravinsky’s Firebird, a female chamber chorus, the ISO, plus rapper Jecorey Arthur. October’s Happy Hour—Brahms V. Radiohead—is an orchestral synthesis of Brahms’ First Symphony and Radiohead’s album OK Computer from 1997. Two more Happy Hour concerts are planned for spring 2020.

“I want this series to be about virtuosic, substantive content that features the orchestra in a new way,” explains Hackman. “The orchestra means a lot to this community, and it’s my job to integrate compelling and engaging programs with guest artists. I want to reveal the excellency of the orchestra to the audience.”
