Musician Bio
Violinist Sage Park joins the Indianapolis Symphony for the 2024-2025 season. Originally from Seoul, Korea and raised in Los Angeles, she began her violin studies at age 9 and made her orchestral debut at age 12 with the South Coast Symphony.
Prior to joining the ISO, Sage’s orchestral experiences include performances with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra, and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also spent three summers as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center. Through the generosity of the Fromm Foundation, she was invited to two additional summers at TMC as as part of the New Fromm players, specializing exclusively in works of living composers. She most recently collaborated with George Lewis, Reena Esmail, Joan Tower, and Astrid Schween. With a proclivity toward contemporary music, Sage maintains close working relationships with composers, often consulting them in their process. She has premiered several commissioned works as concertmaster of the New Music Ensemble at IU, as well as several student chamber recitals. Her recent projects include a residency with Blackbox Ensemble at the University of Florida in late 2023, and performances as a guest artist with the Liríos Quartet in Boulder and Vail, Colorado.
A passionate educator, Sage has held staff positions at the Suzuki School of Boston, Stafford Music Academy, and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic strings programs. In her final year of her graduate studies, she held the Associate Instructor position at Indiana University, primarily keeping a studio of non-majors and underclassmen. She has been a part of the educational outreach week at Bravo! Vail festival, teaching and performing for a young group of string students.
Sage holds a Bachelor’s degree from New England Conservatory of Music, and a Master’s from the IU Jacobs School of Music. Her principal teachers include Paul Biss and Alexander Kerr.
