|"Lutosławski's Cello Concerto is a fascinating piece. It is a wildly dramatic work with so many interjecting thoughts and fragments that always end up back at the same musical idea — a repeated and very metronomic open D played by the solo cello. Often this theme comes back very suddenly and acts as the calm in the middle of the storm that surrounds it. I am thrilled to be a part of this performance, especially when we take it to the Kennedy Center in April 2018 — it is sure to be an exhilarating and rousing concert that is definitely not one to miss!" — Austin Huntington, Principal Cello|
