Mozart's The Magic Flute
In a life spanning just 35 years, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart left an astonishing musical legacy. More than two centuries after his death, Mozart’s music still speaks to us, moves us, and leaves us breathless. To conclude the 2017−18 Lilly Classical Series, Music Director Krzysztof Urbański, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and special guests explore the incredible masterworks composed in Mozart’s final year: the haunting Requiem—Mozart’s last statement—and the timeless opera, The Magic Flute.
|"These pieces of music are so different from each other. On one hand, he wrote probably the deepest piece of music ever written, Requiem, the mass for death. But at the same time, he was composing one of the lightest operettas, The Magic Flute. We have a chance, for these two weeks, to go inside this incredible mind of Mozart and discover how diverse it was. " — Krzysztof Urbański, Music Director|
