Debussy's La Mer: The Symphonic Waves
Celebrate the musical colors and stylings of French music and composers with the dynamic pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. The science-fiction fantasy writings of Abraham Merritt, "our own Jules Verne," says Connesson, inspired him to write The Shining One. The 1930s brought a swinging jazz scene to the U.S. and Paris, and Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major captures that energy and rhythm. Debussy's brilliant orchestral work La Mer stimulates the imagination with a well-loved symphonic storm.
