Amos Lee with the ISO
As a part of the INfusion Music Festival, Amos Lee joins the ISO for his Hilbert Circle Theatre debut. Lee will perform songs from his new album, SPIRIT, an album which was inspired in part by his recent performances with orchestras and choirs.
“Working with folks like the LA Philharmonic and the Mobile, Alabama Community Gospel Choir opened my mind to the possibility of pushing the edges of arrangement away from solitary moments into more collaborative, community experiences.” —Amos Lee
This concert will also feature Liquid Interface , a piece for orchestra written by Mason Bates. Liquid Interface for Orchestra and Electronica is a piece inspired by water in its variety of forms, inhabiting an increasingly hotter world in each progressive movement.
"Water has influenced countless musical endeavors—La Mer and Siegfried's Rhine Journey quickly come to mind—but it was only after living on Berlin's enormous Lake Wannsee did I become consumed with a new take on the idea. Over the course of barely two months, I watched this huge body of water transform from an ice sheet thick enough to support sausage venders, to a refreshing swimming destination heavy with humidity. If the play of the waves inspired Debussy, then what about water in its variety of forms?" —Mason Bates
