From the Earth to the Moon and Beyond
What would the Big Bang sound like if an orchestra played it? On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to step onto the surface of the moon. Fifty years later, we honor this amazing human endeavor with From the Earth to the Moon and Beyond, a new composition by Jim Beckel (pictured below) that will be played by orchestras across the US in celebration – including more than 15 times by the ISO.
An accomplished composer, Jim retired after 49 seasons as the ISO’s Principal Trombone. Join us as Jim shares highlights of his career and his passion for creating at the intersection of art and science.
This event will be held at the Hilbert Circle Theatre, located at 45 Monument Circle. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. before the 7 p.m. program.
All First Mondays Series events are free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
