Brahms v. Radiohead
Steve Hackman's Brahms V. Radiohead is an epic symphonic synthesis of two iconic works separated by over a century, Radiohead's album OK Computer and Brahms' First Symphony. Classic Radiohead songs such as 'Karma Police', 'Paranoid Android' and 'No Surprises' are woven in and out of Brahms, all performed by the full Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and guest vocalists Andrew Lipke, Will Post and Kéren Tayár. At times we hear the melodies and words of Radiohead suspended over Brahms' original music; at times we hear the orchestra playing the music of Radiohead but through the lens of Brahms, utilizing his melodic, harmonic and contrapuntal devices. Every combination is explored, and the music constantly moves from one to the other, and indeed many times the listener is left wondering which is which!
