First Mondays: What's the Big Deal about Beethoven?

Guess who’s turning 250 this year? Around the world the 250th anniversary of Ludwig von Beethoven’s birth is being celebrated with great exuberance! The ISO is certainly on board with their BTHVN2020 Festival happening this January 10-25 performing five of the symphonies, the Triple Concerto, five piano concertos and more. (Where are the other 4 symphonies, you ask? No worries, keep an eye out for our concerts in the fall of 2020!)

But WHY? Of all of the composers, what is it about Beethoven that makes him the quintessential icon of classical music? ISO Associate Conductor, Jacob Joyce, will help us unpack how Beethoven forever changed the landscape of classical music and continues to capture the hearts and minds of music lovers.

You can’t have a birthday party without music! No worries – a quartet of ISO musicians will be on hand to share the music of this great artist throughout the evening.
