This month's Face of FORTE is: Sue Ulrey
What is your most memorable experience at a past ISO event?
A most recent first and most memorable was working with Time for Three and doing the voiceover for the Stella Artois Happy Hour at the Symphony series. They wanted something different (my British accent), and I was happy to be part of it. I have had people come up to me and say - you are that voice --- the Voice of Forte and the Face of Forte.
What event are you most looking forward to this season?
This is a tough question when there is so much to do/see. I love the Marsh Symphony on the Prairie. I enjoy the atmosphere and the uniqueness of experiencing classical music in a casual way while enjoying friends and family.
How have you personally benefited from FORTE involvement?
I have met some great people, got to participate in increasing the visibility of the ISO through supporting events and increasing the visibility of the music programs for kids. The ISO is wonderful because it has something for everyone!
Why would you recommend participation in FORTE to others?
It is an opportunity to make a difference and help bring music to people who may not automatically think of going to the ISO. It is truly a fun place to enjoy oneself, meet new people, enjoy local food and wine and appreciate music in a casual and comfortable way.
If you were a musical instrument, what would you be, and why?
I would have to be the harp. I am Welsh originally, and we have an affinity for the pure notes and beautiful music the harp makes -- so elegant and polished. I wanted to learn to play the harp when I was younger but decided a guitar and clarinet were easier to carry to and from school.
