Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Simon Crookall led the orchestra in many new initiatives in the 2006-2007 season to welcome growing audiences to the Hilbert Circle Theatre, the orchestra’s home, and at Marsh Symphony on the Prairie. A Mid-Winter Festival featuring the music of Ludwig van Beethoven provided many opportunities for guests to enjoy speakers, chamber music, a film, and orchestral concerts of Beethoven’s great works. The festival also included the world premiere of a commissioned piece by Dr. David Baker, a legendary jazz educator and Indianapolis native. Not one, but two concertmasters were chosen for the future, and the orchestra greeted audiences of all ages at its family concerts and the fun-filled Happy Hour at the Symphony.
